Get your VCR's, DVR's to tape the girls starting on the soap opera "One Life to Live" on ABC at 2pm. Here are the air dates that we know of so far where they appear as "Baby Cramer" soon to be named "Chloe". Also, this soap airs on the cable channel "SoapNet" each night at 9pm. I'm updating the below with scene recaps after each episode airs in case you are watching it after the fact so you will know who is who (and also for me to keep track for the girls some day):
Monday, November 10th - Molly appears first in the scene in the bassinet with the nurse talking to her, then it is Tess in the bassinet with Jessica/Tess over her, then Molly leaving with Jessica/Tess w/ red pacifier, then Tess in car; dead baby is not ours, it is a doll in all scenes
Tuesday, November 11th - entering cabin is Madeline (whimpering) and then with pacifier is Molly for the rest of the episode
Wednesday, November 12th - Molly up until when Clint is holding the baby and then it is Tess for the remainder of the episode; note: when they are at the hospital in the end of the episode it is not our baby it is another baby they had hired for some of the scenes
Thursday, November 13th - they had given me this date as one of the air dates but the babies weren't on...sorry...turns out it was Friday
Friday, November 14th - Tess appears as the sleeping baby in the bassinet that they zoom in on in the nursery; when they first zoom in on the bassinet it is another baby playing the part (they wanted to show the baby awake at first)
Wednesday, December 3rd
Thursday, December 4th
Monday, December 8th
Tuesday, December 9th
Wednesday, December 10th
Tuesday, December 16th
Wednesday, December 17th
Monday, January 5th
Keep in mind, there were other babies playing the same part in the beginning so sometimes it may not always be our baby especially in the hospital scenes. Anytime you see a pacifier with a stuffed animal attached that is one of our girls. We've enjoyed having the little girl Stephanie who plays Bree there because she loves the girls and her parents are great. It has added a new dimension to the day and they are in a lot of scenes together. Stephanie doesn't have any younger siblings in real life so she looks forward to being with her "baby sisters" (as she refers to them) on set. It is very cute.

Oh, and did I mention we had our first bout of colds with all three having them as well as Dennis and I last week? There was a lot of suctioning and dirty tissues around here but they were quick ones (about 3 days). So, it wasn't too bad but the girls were really conjested so this was also contributing to them not sleeping well. In addition, the girls are definitely teething so this may also be contributing to them waking up during the night as well as during naps. They seem to cry out in pain quite frequently and are biting down on everything in sight and drooling a ton.

After a long two weeks of the girls keeping us up all night we may have just turned a corner. Last night both Tess and Molly slept through the night so I only had to feed Madeline during the night. Molly has been going strong with sleeping through the night for over a week now so it was just Tess and Madeline that were the main culprits. It really seemed worse to us then when they were newborns because back then we knew what was in store each night and knew that we we would be feeding them every 4 hours so we could get a stretch of sleep in between each feeding. Lately, the girls are on their own schedule each night so every hour or two a different baby would be waking up. While we don't always feed them each time, we are still getting up to console or give them a pacifier (we'll have to tackle kicking the habit of those next month) and they are just all at different times throughout the night. But, the last two nights we put rice cereal in Tess' bottle as well as Madeline's (who has had that for awhile now to help with her acid reflux) and she slept through the night both nights. Praying for a good night tonight!
We do have to recognize that we are putting them to bed much earlier now so they are actually sleeping very long stretches overall. They are now going to bed by 7:30pm. This has been sooooooo nice because Dennis and I can actually have a night of peace and quiet and can eat dinner earlier and just relax. Also, on the napping front the girls seem to be making progress. They have turned 45 minute naps into hour naps and we do get an occassional 1.5-2 hour nap out of them. It also seems to be getting easier to get them all down and asleep at the same time on a more regular basis. I guess the hard work of sleep training that my mom and I went through is starting to pay off. We do still have the occassional outcry and need to re-enter and assist one of the babies at any given time but like I said, we are making progress.
Feeding them has been a whole new experience that is both fun and also hard work to coordinate and try to fit into the day at a time where they are all in a good mood. But, anything that may contribute to them sleeping better I am all for incorporating. Madeline is a good eater, very consistent and the most clean of the three (if you can call any of it clean). Molly can chow down and just can't wait for the next bite. I think she'd rather have the feeding be just her because she has to wait a few minutes as we go down the line feeding the other two. Tess was very hesitant for the first week and was pushing it out more than the others and would eventually start to cry. So, she wasn't really into it until tonight where she finally started to enjoy the carrots. We've only given them rice cereal and carrots so far and they definitely prefer the carrots.
The girls have gotten so cute with all their smiling and giggling. One night Marco was here and had Molly belly laughing, it was hysterical. They seem to be less fussy and much more content the last couple weeks and we seem to have gotten Madeline's acid reflux under control more now with the increased dosage from the doctor. Hopefully she just outgrows it all together. Molly has taken the reins from Tess and is definitely the most active of the three now, rolling back and forth all day long and even scooting herself around. Tess is the most vocal with all of her funny sounds. Madeline smiles and laughs the most. They are getting so incredibly big and heavy (my back is in rough shape)!
We now have a local college girl named Danielle McGuiness helping out and she has been over 2 afternoons now and came with me to the One Life to Live gig today to help me. She is GREAT with the girls. She loves to entertain and play with them which is just what I was looking for to help me out and to give my mom a break once in a while.
Well, that is all for now. I can't believe they will be 6 months old in a week. We have come a long way and it is going by so quick. I love being home with the girls and just can't get enough of them (except for in the wee hours). Dennis is just smitten with them and we feel so lucky.

5 Month Slump but Looking forward to SOLIDS!
We had a nice time in Binghamton and it was a much needed change of scenery. Mainly we had helping hands to get through the days so it allowed us some respite. Dennis got to play golf a couple times and I was able to run some errands and get my hair cut (it had been since March). We also got out to dinner one night and out for a couple drinks another night. So, we were so glad we made the trip. It is a lot of work getting packed while trying to take care of the girls and then getting the car loaded and then the drive, but it was worth it. We looked at some Minivans over the weekend as well. I like the new VW Routan but it doesn't have all-wheel drive so we will probably trade in our 4Runner for a Sienna.
We got a call that One Life to Live wants to continue using the girls as a "recurring role" as baby Cloe starting next week and for 2 weeks after that for sure. I guess this could go on for up to 6 months but we only know a few weeks out about how often they will need them. So, we're going to keep doing it for now. Still waiting for them to give me the air dates but it won't be until November. Last week Molly was selected for a Fisher Price magazine ad (they said they only wanted Molly...poor Tess and Maddy didn't make the cut I guess...I can't remember how they did during the audition) but the day that we were suppose to go she woke up with a rash all over her face and it was so bad that I had to call and cancel. It is finally starting to clear up. The doctor thinks it was started by all her drool on her chin or something she wore.
The girls slept relatively well in Binghamton and it was nice being all in one room. My mom said it looked like an orphanage because we had 2 portable cribs and a PacknPlay in our room and then Carolynn was home with Steve and Henry in a PacknPlay in their room. It was craziness around the house with all the babies.
Since we've been home, the girls have not been sleeping well at night. Madeline was back to her old tricks and our champion sleeper Tess fell apart and has been waking up the last two nights and was needing to eat. Molly only required some consoling when she wakes up at night so at least we haven't had to feed her but she has been waking up around 5am. I have been up almost every hour the last two nights and Dennis is up a lot too. We have been running ragged around here frustrated that we seem to be going backwards on the sleep front. The naps are still not great but there is an occasional good nap that occurs for one of the babies so we are seeing a small light at the end of the tunnel.
We had a pediatrician appointment today and the girls are growing nicely. Molly and Madeline both weigh 12 lbs, 3 oz. and Tess weighs 11 lbs, 12 oz. They are all approximately 23". The doctor said it is time for us to start giving them rice cereal by spoon and then vegetables after a week. I am so excited!!! She says this will hopefully help them sleep better.
What a great week of amazing fall weather we've had! It has made for some nice long walks and the other day my mom and I pulled the girls up to a table outside (one of the many restaurants here in Hoboken with outside seating) and had a glass of wine and some cheese. It was a treat.
We are in the process of finding a mother's helper to assist me in the late afternoons/early evenings to give my mom a break so a couple of girls from Steven's College here in Hoboken stopped by this evening. They seemed great and hopefully we can work something out with their schedules.
Disappointing baseball playoffs for me being a Red Sox fan and my dad/brother being Dodger fans who I was also rooting for (Dennis and my mom are Yankee fans I am sorry to say). It will be interesting to see what we do about the girls when it comes time for them to be "fans".
Well, that is all for now. Hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather!

One Day at A Time
I am writing tonight after one of the most trying days so far with the girls. Dennis took the week off because he had some vacation days to use before the end of the year and we wanted to give my mom a break to spend some time in Binghamton. So, it is great having him home all week but probably not what you would call a vacation for him. The girls were just not happy campers and it felt like they were crying the majority of the day. Their naps were unsuccessful for the most part, there were several times where all three were crying (loudly) at the same time. These crying stints are usually balanced out with some cute playful times but those were minimal today. I think we owe our neighbors a bottle of wine at the least. It is hard to know what the cause is so we are questioning everything and trying everything to find the answer...is it teething? are they coming down with a cold? are they just hungry? are they overtired? Is it Madeline's Acid Reflux? Is it Gas? Do we give them Gripe Water? Do we give them Tylenol? What should we do if it is teething? But, we got through the day and they went to bed by 8pm and have been sleeping peacefully ever since (cross my fingers). We are hoping for a good night to make up for this stressful day. This was one of those days where we weren't able to shower, let alone get out of our pajamas, eat much of anything, make the bead or brush our teeth before 3pm. Dennis said at one point, "how much is daycare?". But, this is to be expected with triplet newborns and we know we just need to chalk it up as just one of those days. Yesterday on the other hand, was a great day.
Yesterday, we had the third day of taping for One Life to Live and afterwards we walked through Central Park which is just a block away from the ABC Studios. It was a beautiful day and we ate lunch in the park and took some pictures. It was crazy, because we had gotten engaged 4 years ago around this time and spent the day in the same part of the park that we happened to be in yesterday. So much has changed! It was interesting how many people stopped us to take a picture of the girls. All these tourists with their cameras viewed us as another attraction to capture on their trip I guess. It seemed that a lot of them were Europeans so I guess triplets are even more of a rarity to them. It was nice having the studio so close to Central Park because on the first day my mom and also brought the girls there for a walk. The weather this fall has been so nice. It has been great being able to still get outside for walks.
The One Life to Live tapings went pretty good overall. However, it isn't as glamorous as you might think or that we thought it would be. This is the soap opera business remember. The first day went well as we had 2 baby nurses to help us and we were only there a few hours. Madeline and Tess didn't hold up so well on the set, so Molly sort of stole the show. She was in some nice close up shots where the actresses and actors were holding her. I still have to find out the exact air date because the people we asked weren't sure. The next day our "call time" wasn't until the afternoon so by then they happened to be running behind and we had a long wait until the scenes came up that the girls were in. They do give us a room but it is small so we can't really fit much in there so we don't have the bouncy chairs, swings, etc. like we do at home to set the girls down in. So, we were holding them for about 6 hours straight and they were really out of sorts that day. We also only had 1 baby nurse that day. Also, they don't provide food so you are on your own and we couldn't really get out to go get anything so we had no dinner and were starving. Tess was first up that day and they had her on the set in a hospital nursery scene where she was in bassinet and she was doing so good. She was smiling and babbling and being very cute but they ran into some glitch with the lighting so after a half hour, she lost her steam and just as they were about to start taping she started crying. This is when you hear over the intercom "baby #2" so then we rushed Madeline up there and she wasn't up for it, so then it was on to "baby #3" which was Molly and they got a couple takes with her in it. Madeline and Tess did get a few scenes but I believe Molly got more especially on the first day. On the last day, they were shooting another nursery scene so they used all the babies in this one but it was mostly just background shots. At the end they zoomed right in on Tess who had fallen asleep (her and Maddy both took naps on the set with all these bright lights and hustle and bustle..unbelievable...it must have felt like they were back in the NICU or something). Anyway, she looked so sweet and beautiful and everyone was like "awwwh". But, they felt she looked like too much of a doll so they swapped her out for another person's baby who was awake so that it would look more real. Bummer. Most of the people that work on the show were really nice and treated us and the babies great like the director, producers, stage managers, etc. Some of the actresses were a bit much but others were great. The baby nurses were a godsend and I wished we could take them home with us. The last day took only 2 hours so that was quick and easy. It was pretty cool being on the set watching how everything gets done. When you aren't on the set, you can watch the taping on the TV's in the room and lobby. Dennis and I both got to go on the set yesterday and we were holding our breath hoping the girls hung in there and didn't cry too much. It was a little nerve wrecking when they are trying to get through a scene like the first day where the actors were holding them and trying to remember their lines and then if the baby cried they would have to cut and re-do it, etc. So, I would be standing there watching in the back, crossing my fingers, sweating it out like "please don't cry right now". But, they all understand that they are only babies and it is to be expected. I'm not sure if they will be needing us for any more episodes in the future but it was a good experience and overall worth it.
Last weekend we had a great fall Saturday up at the Bear Mountain Octoberfest with Dennis' family and my sister, Steve, Henry and other friends. It was a gorgeous day and the girls were so good and there was music and German beer and a good time. We changed and fed them when we arrived out on the lawn and then we didn't need to worry about it for another 3 hours so we could relax. We went back to Moira and Larry's afterwards with everyone and had a cookout and spent the night. On Sunday, our church here in Hoboken threw us a shower and collected diapers and gift cards to present to us. It was so nice of them and they had us bring the girls up to the front of the church during the mass for everyone to see them. Afterwards, we had a really nice brunch with the Sullivans and my sister and then hung out back at our place. The girls did so great all weekend so I guess they are allowed to have a bad day like today once in awhile. Dennis' parents stayed over on Sunday night to help me during the day on Monday while Dennis was at work and my mom was in Binghamton. We managed to get out for a walk since it was yet another nice day and we stopped for lunch at an outdoor restaurant on the Waterfront. Only this time the girls weren't so into it and wanted out of their carseats/stroller. One day last week my parents and I took the girls to watch the Intrepid pass by Hoboken on the Hudson River and afterwards we met up with Carolynn, Steve and Henry. It was late enough in the afternoon so we decided to go out to lunch and do our feeding for the girls there at the restaurant. It actually worked out great and although my mom, dad and I had to eat our lunch with a baby in our lap, we still enjoyed it. We have all gotten use to eating standing up with one hand and a baby in your other or on your lap, eating really fast (I could compete with some of those guys in food eating contests), eating meals at odd hours (lunch at 3, dinner at 9pm), or just not eating.
Anyway, I just really want to do normal things as much as we can and don't want to be afraid to be out in public because of how hard it can be with triplets. It is certainly a lot of work getting out the door and getting around and just managing any type of outing with them but we always walk away from the experience being glad we did it. I never thought we would have been able to do the things we've done with the girls so far and I am so glad we've been able to do them (eg., the pool this summer, the lakes, Bethany Beach, sleepovers at Moira/Larry's, bbq's at Carolynn's, visits to Binghamton, Octoberfest at Bear Mountain, festivals in Hoboken, out to lunch in Hoboken, NYC, etc). The girls never cease to amaze us at how well they adjust and behave for us so we find ourselves saying "I can't believe how good they did, that was so worth it" a lot. We seem to go into these outings with our fingers crossed not knowing what to expect and almost expecting the worst but then it always seems to turn out okay. So, I hope we can continue to keep pushing the envelope and being brave enough to try to do normal things that people with one baby do.
We are heading to Binghamton either tomorrow night or Friday morning for the long weekend so please come by and see us at 3 Millard for those of you reading from Binghamton.
